Recorder Co-op
August 3rd

The Recorder Co-op is a recorder ensemble made up of some of Australia's most well-known recorder players, including Hannah Coleman, Ruth Wilkinson, Ryan Williams and Alexandra Bailliet-Joly. Comfortable with many musical styles The Recorder Co-op has a passion for performing European renaissance music on a matched set of renaissance style recorders. They are committed to commissioning new works for renaissance style recorders finding that by drawing from the deep past these special instruments speak to contemporary Australia. They have worked with composers Ros Bandt, Alice Humphries, Claire Cross, & Ryan Williams to develop new works for renaissance recorder consort and have performed extensively including at the Organs of Ballarat Goldfields Festival, Melbourne Conservatorium Lunch Hour series, Christ Church Concerts Music Festival, and the Trinity Lecture series. With the help of the Victorian Recorder Guild and the Don Cowell Memorial Trust, the members established the Melbourne Recorder Academy. The Academy aims to create an inspiring recorder community for young recorder players by providing them with workshops and ensemble performance opportunities led by professional musicians.
